Akhil, Sonu and a broken friendship

Akhil falls for Dr. Srivalli, known as Sri, and she returns his feelings. Their relationship is complicated by Sonu, a major hi-tech robber and Sri's adopted brother. Sonu once worked as a car mechanic for Sri's father. After her father dies in a car crash, Sonu brings Sri into his home and treats her as his sister.

Akhil and Sonu are already enemies. When Sonu learns that Sri loves Akhil, he tells her to end the relationship and never see Akhil again. Sri visits Akhil to understand the hostility between the two men. He recounts how they had once been best friends after graduating, struggling to find work alongside Sonu's real sister, Sasha.

Sasha develops appendicitis, and Akhil and Sonu turn to bank robbery to pay for her surgery. They continue stealing money afterward. Sasha falls in love with Akhil and proposes to him, but he refuses because he regards her as his best friend. Later, Akhil and Sonu find Sasha dead on the road, her arm slightly cut, and assume she took her own life through blood loss. Sonu blames Akhil, ending their friendship, while Akhil decides to lead a normal life.

Police suspicion soon falls on Akhil after John Abraham, an artist asked to draw Sonu, produces Akhil's face instead. Akhil resembles one of the unidentified men in police surveillance footage, though he denies appearing in the video and Abraham says that Akhil is not a thief.
