Thirty-four bodies at a palace

Set in Nandigama, a town in Andhra Pradesh, the story opens with three youngsters entering a haunted palace. A strange entity kills them immediately. Their bodies are found later, bringing the number of corpses discovered at the palace over a period of time to 34.

Six months later, a television channel chooses the same building for a reality programme called “Dhayyam tho 7 Rojulu, Pattukunte 3 Kotlu,” translated as “7 days with ghost, survive it to win Rs. 3 crores.” The premise places seven selected participants inside the palace for seven days, with Rs. 3 crores offered to those who survive. Program head Pakodi and Chekodi prepare a series of scares for the contestants before their arrival.

Seven contestants enter the house

Ashwin, Nandu, Barbie, Bala Tripura Sundari, Shivudu, M. Y. Danam and Bujjimma make up the group sent into the palace. Ashwin is played by Ashwin Babu, Nandu by Chethan Cheenu, Barbie by Eshanya Maheshwari and Bala Tripura Sundari by Dhanya Balakrishna. Dhanraj plays Shivudu, Shakalaka Shankar plays M. Y. Danam, and Vidyullekha Raman plays Bujjimma.

At first, the planned ordeal seems ordinary. Soon, however, the group begins to experience paranormal activity. The contestants increasingly accept that the palace is haunted, particularly Ashwin. Nandu, who is a doctor, refuses to believe stories about the supernatural. The contrast between Ashwin’s fear and Nandu’s scepticism shapes the early days of the programme.

Ashwin’s reason for joining

Ashwin tells Bala about his brother, Dr. Karthik. Karthik had begun a revolution of donating organs, but he was later found dead at the Mahal in Nandigama. After seeing Karthik’s corpse, Ashwin’s mother suffered strokes. Ashwin entered the contest because he needed money for her hospital expenses.

The disturbances grow more dangerous as the show continues. Attacks on the contestants increase, and Shivudu dies. Nandu then comes to believe the house is haunted, like the others. Ashwin unexpectedly takes the opposite position, insisting that there are no ghosts. His change of mind shocks the group and sends him searching through the palace on his own.

A hidden chamber and a recording

During his investigation, Ashwin finds a secret chamber in the palace. There he recovers the mobile phone of his dead brother. He shows it to Bala, and they turn it on. The device contains a video recorded by Karthik during an earlier visit to the building.

Karthik’s recording shows that he discovered the same chamber and found bodies being mutilated there. Before he could expose the people responsible, he was killed. His death was recorded on the phone. The film was directed by Ohmkar, who rechristened himself from Ohmkkar for the project. Ashwin Babu made his lead debut, Chethan Cheenu made his Telugu debut, Sai Karthik composed the soundtrack, and Gnanam handled cinematography.
