Prabhakaran's ambitions and engagement

Seeman wrote and directed Iniyavale, a 1998 Indian Tamil-language drama released on 15 May. Prabhu plays Prabhakaran, a poet living with his mother and father, while Gautami, Suvalakshmi and Keerthi Reddy also star.

His close friends Raja and Murugan are like brothers. A classical dancer admires his poems, but he is determined to pass the IAS exams and become a collector before marriage.

Meena's family and Manju

Prabhakaran's father and his friend Ramanathan arrange his marriage to Ramanathan's sensitive daughter, Meena. Prabhakaran tries to cancel it, while Meena falls in love with him. After a misinterpretation, Meena commits suicide and her family blames Prabhakaran. Feeling guilty, he decides to marry her younger sister Manju, described as playful.

Casting changes and Tamil debut

D. S. Ramanujam of The Hindu called the film a fusion of poetic narration and human drama, writing that Seeman succeeds fairly well.

Manju Warrier was first attached to the film, then opted out. Kausalya was expected to replace her, but Suvaluxmi was cast. After Nanba Nanba was cancelled, Prabhu cleared his schedule to shoot during March 1998. Deva composed the soundtrack, marking lyricist Thamarai's Tamil cinema debut.
